Goals of the Class

This class is for boys who have completed the list of requirements to move up to level 3. Skills that are going to be covered on the events prepare students for level 4 which is a first level of competitive gymnastics team.  Children will learn back tumbling, and various skills on floor, bars and vault which form a set of compulsory requirements by USA Gymnastics.  Conditioning emphasizes development of  groups of muscles of the lower body.  Each weekly class is 2 hours long and includes a 10 minute warm-up. conditioning, and practice in two events.

Flexibility (warm up)

Pike (touch toes)

Straddle (chin on the ground)

Bridge (feet together legs straight)

Splits (both sides all the way down)

 

Vault

Handstand flat back (onto porta-pit)

 

Bars

Front hip circle

Glide (proper form)

Under swing dismount

Tap swings half turn dismount

Mill Circle

Cast Straddle on

PUPO Cast under swing dismount (pit bar)

 

Mushroom

2 circles

 

Parallel Bars

5 swings (all above horizontal line in the back), dismount over bar on a back swing (above horizontal line)

Swing back, side dismount

3 dips (all the way down)

 

Rings

Swings inlocate

Swings dislocate

L hold in support

 

Floor

Handstand (walk 5 feet)

Back handspring (on wedge)

Back bend kick over

Front handspring (on Tumble Trak)

 

Trampoline

Conditioning

Handstand on the floor (hold for 5 seconds)
