Annual Spring Show Fundraiser

SUNDAY, JUNE 2, 2019

Join us Sunday, June 2nd, for the 39th Annual Spring Show Fundraiser—Head Over Heels’ LARGEST FUNDRAISER for our SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. The day is jam packed with activities for the whole family, and allows underserved youth the opportunity to participate in our programs. The day of the event is put on solely by volunteers—our coaches and team parents volunteer their time for this amazing cause (over 200 volunteers donate their time!).

 

All HOH families (current, past, and future) are encouraged to join us. The day's activities include:

HOH Student Performance

All current HOH students have a place in the show, from Gym Tots to our Competitive Teams. Our pre-school students will perform an obstacle course (no practice required!) and our recreational level students will perform routines they have been learning in class. Tumble-A-Thon

This year’s Spring Show will mark our fourth annual Tumble-A-Thon. The Tumble-A-Thon will run throughout the day on the back side of our main gym, and is a chance for students to perform as many “tumbles” (handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, etc.) as they can in three minutes.

Before the big day, students receive pledges from family and friends (packets available in the front office). After performing their tumbles, participants should collect their pledges and return the funds to the front office by May 31. The highest earner will win a prize!

 

Raffle

Purchase pre-sale raffle tickets to be in the running for a Tiffany's necklace! Pre-sale tickets are available for purchase in the front office.

Purchase raffle tickets on the day of the Spring Show to enter our day-of raffle. In year's past this raffle has included more than 40 raffle prizes!

 

Silent Auction

In past years, items up for bid have included a week of camp at Woodward West, various chiropractic packages, a Family Fun Pack for Pier 39, a private lesson from any of our full-time or team coaches, and much more. If you are the higest bidder, you win an amazing prize while supporting our scholarship program!

 

Open Gym (in pre-school facility)

For all those kids who can't get enough gymnastics, we will be running an open gym in our pre-school gym!

 

Carnival in Parking Lot

The 4701 Doyle St. Parking Lot is transformed into a fun-filled carnival, past activities have included:

  • Carnival Games (past games have included Windmill Mini Golf, Skeet Ball, Balloon Darts, Basketball)
  • Dunk Tank
  • Blow-up Obstacles
  • Bungee Run
  • Hair Wraps

  • Emery Rec Art Project (free of charge)

Emery Fire and Emery Police

Emeryville’s Fire Department and Police Department will be in attendance, along with their vehicles. The fire truck and police car will be open for tours!

 

Food

Throughout the day, food and drinks will be available at our concessions stand. Menu items include tri-tip sandwiches, burgers, hot-dogs, teriyaki rice bowl, caesar salads and more. You will not go hungry!

Jamba Juice will also be selling smoothies while supplies last, and our Competitive Teams will be running a bake sale.

What is the Spring Show Fundraiser?

The Spring Show Fundraiser is Head Over Heels largest fundraiser for our scholarship program. Families are invited to join the day’s activities, which include performances by our students, a carnival in the parking lot, and more. All proceeds from the event fund our scholarship and financial aid programs. Last year we were able to award 14 weeks of summer camp to local underserved youth as well as support 10 of our competitive team families with costs.

When is the show?

June 2, 2019

Is there a theme?

Yes, this year we are asking for all Superheroes to attend! We encourage students to dress up with our coaches and staff.

When does the show start?

The 39th Annual Spring Show Fundraiser is on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Our doors open at 10:00am and close at 4:00pm. During this time the carnival, open gym, tumble-a-thon, concessions, raffle, and silent auction will be up and running. The student performances are from 11:00-3:00, with an intermission from 12:30-1:30.

Who can attend?

Everyone! We encourage all of our families to come to the event along with their friends and neighbors. Families do not need to be currently enrolled to come to the show.

Does my child have to be currently enrolled?

While we do not require participants of the show to be currently enrolled, the recreational level classes have learned routines in class that they will be performing. Not enrolled students can jump in and do what they can.

What time will my child perform?

We cannot give the exact time your child will perform, however, the tentative order of acts can provide an estimate:

Where can I park?

Parking will be available in Spur Alley (all spots in Spur Alley will be available to our clients ONLY for the day of June 2) and surrounding streets (45th, 47th, 53rd, Hollis, and Doyle Streets).

Can I use my credit card for the event?

Cash and check are preferred, however, debit/credit can be used if necessary. There is a $1.00 surcharge for credit card use.

What are the admission costs?

We are partnering with the Alameda County Food Bank and admission tickets will be discounted a $1.00, if you bring 2 cans of food.

How many cans am I allowed to bring for a discount?

You can only bring 2 cans for a $1.00 discount per person. People are encouraged to donate more if possible however the admission price will only be discounted the one time.

How can we participate in the carnival activities?

Activity tickets can be purchased on the day of the event at the ticket booth. The carnival activities will take tickets. Open gym will take cash/check only. Students of all ages will be able to participate in most activities (some activities have age restrictions).

Will my child’s coach be there?

We hope that all coaches will be at the event. The entire weekend is run on volunteer time only to ensure the most funds possible are raised for our scholarship program.

 

 

As a non-profit organization Head Over Heels strives to bring the benefits of the specialized athletic arts instruction that we provide to as many children as possible.  Any donation made to our organization is tax deductible to the extent of the current tax laws. We rely on donations from our patrons and members of the community to help keep us doing what we love to do; helping the young people we serve reach their potential while instilling a life-long love of physical activity.
