Joy joined Head Over Heels as an athlete in 1992 and continued on our Girls Competitive Team until 2000. She began coaching in our counselor in training program at age 14 and then recreational classes shortly thereafter. Joy began helping with administrative tasks after high school and quickly grew her responsibilities to include managing our enrollment both in classes and camps.
As an active member of her community, her accomplishments include:
- 2007 graduate of Le Cordon Bleu culinary school
- 2007-2015 owner and partner in a Bay Area catering company
- 2010-2011 member of the citizens’ bond oversite committee for the Emeryville Center for Community Life
- 2011-2016 member of the Emery Unified School Board
- Mom to two current HOH gymnasts
Outside of her work with Head Over Heels, Joy enjoys organizing community events like her local block party and Halloween haunted walk-about. She has been dedicated to bringing the same joy she felt as an HOH student to the tens of thousands of children she has seen walk these same hallways.
